Grey Towers was completed in 1886 for James Pinchot, father of Gifford Pinchot, the first chief of the U.S. Forest Service. The house connects family history with the development of American conservation. First-floor rooms, including the library and sitting room, give substance to that story, while trails and interpretive material extend the visit into the grounds.
The 2026 exhibition, Where Forests Teach, adds a current reason to visit. The published tour season operates Friday through Monday through November 1, with an 11 a.m. guided tour and an afternoon open house. There is a specific exception on October 11, 2026: guided tours at 11 a.m. and noon replace the open house. These arrangements deserve a date check; arriving for a generic afternoon visit would miss that change.
Back on Broad Street, The Columns Museum shifts attention to the people and records of Pike County. Its 1904 neoclassical mansion contains the Lincoln Flag, which the museum identifies as having supported Abraham Lincoln's head after he was shot at Ford's Theatre. The institution explains the object's connection to actress Jeannie Gourlay and its later donation, allowing visitors to assess it within a documented collection story.
Other exhibitions broaden the perspective. A Lenape presentation developed with members of three federally recognized tribes addresses Indigenous history and removal. The Davis-Bailey collection follows generations of a Black Milford family through letters and photographs. Together, these materials make the museum more than a stop for one famous artifact. Exhibitions occupy two floors, so access needs should be discussed directly.
Raymondskill Falls, within Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, supplies the natural counterpart. The National Park Service identifies the three-tier cascade as Pennsylvania's tallest waterfall. Its approximately 0.3-mile trail is short but steep and uneven; viewing platforms offer the appropriate places to see the falls.
The current closure below the lower falls includes the pool and downstream drainage, while the Raymondskill Falls Trail is explicitly excepted. A visit to the platforms therefore remains distinct from entering the closed creek area. Pets and picnics are prohibited at the site. Milford's cultural and natural attractions become more rewarding when approached on their own terms: enough attention for the collections, the right arrival time for Grey Towers, and suitable footing and respect for access boundaries at the waterfall.
