VMI Museum

The VMI Museum holds collections connected with the Virginia Military Institute, its former students and military figures. It provides context for an institution that occupies a prominent place in Lexington’s identity.

Jackson House Museum

The house on East Washington Street was Thomas J. Jackson’s residence during his years in Lexington. Its interpretation addresses local life before the Civil War as well as his later military career.

The house makes a focused history stop within a downtown walk. Check the current visiting arrangements and tour availability before making it the fixed point of the day.

Virginia Horse Center

Virginia Horse Center hosts competitions in a range of equestrian disciplines. The experience depends on what is happening when you visit, making its calendar more useful than a general promise of activity.

Choose a scheduled event that interests you and check visitor access and any admission conditions. Watching a competition can take several hours and introduces a different side of the region from its museums.

Natural Bridge State Park

Natural Bridge is the limestone arch at the center of a state park south of Lexington. Cedar Creek Trail passes beneath it, allowing the visit to continue beyond the main photograph.

Plan it as an excursion with time for walking and interpretation. Check trail access, conditions and the current visitor schedule; the town of Natural Bridge and Lexington are separate stops.
