Floyd Country Store
The Friday Night Jamboree brings old-time music, bluegrass and dancing to Floyd Country Store. The building also serves as a shop, restaurant and music-learning venue.
Visitors do not need to know the repertoire or join the dancing to appreciate the interaction between musicians, residents and guests. Check the program and ticket arrangements for the actual date of your visit.
Mabry Mill
Mabry Mill preserves a mill, sawmill and blacksmithing setting within the Blue Ridge Parkway’s interpretation of rural life. The grounds and historic features are the reasons to visit.
For 2026, separate the historic site from the restaurant and gift shop. The National Park Service announced renovations under a new operator, with food and retail service planned for spring 2027. Do not arrange a visit on the assumption that the restaurant has reopened.
Buffalo Mountain Natural Area Preserve
Buffalo Mountain Natural Area Preserve protects uncommon natural communities and provides a relatively short but steep walk toward the summit. It is an outing for the mountain landscape and flora rather than an urban stroll.
Parking is very limited. An early arrival can improve the chances of finding space, but does not guarantee it; check current preserve access and allow time for the climb.
Floyd Center for the Arts
Floyd Center for the Arts presents temporary exhibitions and workshops, with programming changing through the year. Consult the exhibition calendar rather than treating it as a fixed collection.
It offers a slower cultural visit between music events and outdoor excursions. Workshop participation may require arrangements separate from general gallery visiting.
Planning your visit
Choose the Jamboree date, then fit the Parkway, mountain preserve and arts center around access and weather. Mabry Mill’s historic grounds and its restaurant are separate operating questions.
