Gràcia is not an extension of the Eixample or a uniform Barcelona postcard. It was an independent town until its incorporation into the city in 1897, and Vila de Gràcia retains a tighter street grid and squares where social life unfolds at a pedestrian scale. The district also includes other neighbourhoods, so this guide focuses on the Verdi and Goya area, with shops, terraces, cultural venues and restaurants used by residents and visitors alike. Evenings can be lively and popular streets fill up; allow time to walk and choose a restaurant according to the pace you want.
For a carefully composed menu spanning fish, Japanese pieces and hot dishes, Suguru Sushi is on Carrer de Verdi. The team describes the restaurant as a local project, and its official site lists sushi, sashimi, maki, gyoza, tempura and a tasting menu for two. Kibuka Goya, on Goya Street, was the group’s first venue and focuses on original maki and Japanese cooking with Western influence. Its group menus and walk-in system for smaller parties make it more practical for a spontaneous meal.
Google comments for Suguru mention fish, service and variety, although its popularity can make a table harder to find. Kibuka reviews often praise the friendly staff, generous portions and menu, alongside less enthusiastic views of some flavours. There is no single answer to “fair price”: Suguru sits in the mid-range, with a listed €75 tasting menu for two; Kibuka lists set menus at €26 and €32 per person for groups of 8–12. For a more predictable bill, check the menus before arriving and confirm what each set includes.
The best route depends on your starting point. Metro and buses connect Barcelona with Gràcia; the two restaurants can be reached on foot from the central squares, but do not assume a car will find parking on these narrow streets. Neither business confirms private parking. Suguru lists two service periods; Kibuka advertises continuous service from 1 p.m. and telephone reservations limited to groups. Hours and availability change, so check on the day. We do not apply one safety label to the whole district: use normal city precautions, especially on crowded terraces and when returning late.
Check current details and choose according to your budget, time and way of travelling.
