Seattle Promise is a City of Seattle and Seattle Colleges program combining tuition support, advising, and student follow-up; it is not a scholarship for every Washington resident. The Class of 2027 may apply if graduating from a Seattle public high school or one of the charter schools named by the program. The Seattle Colleges profile explains the benefit, campuses, and deadlines to coordinate.
The official site sets February 12, 2027, as the deadline for both the Promise application and an admissions application to North Seattle, Seattle Central, or South Seattle College. FAFSA or WASFA must then reach the selected college by April 30, and the financial-aid file must be complete by July 30. To start in fall, students must attend Readiness Academy and Campus Connect and begin with at least 12 credits in September 2027. The student submits the scholarship form; use the same personal email across applications.
The award pays the remaining tuition balance after other aid is applied, for up to two years, seven quarters, or 90 college-level credits, whichever comes first. It is limited to the three Seattle Colleges and a student’s first associate degree; it does not automatically follow a student to a four-year university after transfer. To estimate net cost, request a breakdown showing Pell, state grants, institutional aid, and Promise in sequence.
Tuition is not the full cost of attendance. Additional help through the Seattle Promise Equity Scholarship may be available to students with demonstrated financial need for expenses such as books, child care, food, housing, or transportation, but it is separate aid and should not be assumed. The program also says academic standing, class attendance, full-time enrollment, and quarterly advisor check-ins affect continued eligibility.
When comparing the three campuses, consider the degree pathway, commute, class schedule, and support services, then check admissions and financial aid at the same college. Students with Running Start or other dual-enrollment credits may qualify if they have fewer than 90 credits and have not completed their first associate degree, but those credits count toward the cap. If your school, status, or enrollment plan changes, ask your assigned Promise specialist before the deadline; the program offers guidance, workshops, and email support.
