Maskay guide

How can you get free job-search guidance at San Diego’s Metro Career Center, and where can you complain?

Metro Career Center offers no-cost resources and shares its building with several partners. Learn which services belong to each programme, how to prepare and who receives certain state complaints.

At 4389 Imperial Avenue, more than one employment resource shares the same address. Metro Career Center is part of the San Diego Workforce Partnership and America’s Job Center network; the site also hosts partners with different roles, including EDD, Job Corps and community organisations. For job seekers, that means resources, guidance and a way to begin the process at no cost to county residents aged 16 and over. Training or individualised support, however, may involve an assessment and eligibility rules.

The official directory invites visitors to get information and start an application. If you have an eligibility appointment, prepare identification and documents supporting the details in your application; ask who will be your contact and how you will know the file is complete. The usual posted hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but some partners use their own appointments. The centre also warns that service may pause for part of the last Thursday each month while internal work takes place, so check before travelling.

Public reviews offer signals, not a verdict. One recent visitor praised the employment and education resources and said they could drop in to ask questions; another person complained about an interaction with a counsellor after asking whether they could accompany their partner. Other reviews concern unemployment services handled by partners in the building. That mix makes it important to ask which organisation owns your issue: career guidance, an unemployment claim and a training assessment are different services and may be handled by different teams.

If you believe your request was not handled properly, first identify the programme and keep the email, appointment time, documents and any referral. For Employment Service matters, EDD’s current guide assigns Metro a complaint representative at 4389 Imperial Avenue and lists (619) 266-4253 and WSBSanDiegoAJCC@edd.ca.gov. For Workforce Partnership WIOA programmes, the organisation publishes equal-opportunity and complaint procedures for its providers; an update effective in August 2026 revised some notices and filing details. Ask for the current form for your programme, and do not use the EO route for a simple delay unless discrimination is involved.

The address is 4389 Imperial Avenue, San Diego; the general number is (619) 319-9675. Confirm whether you can walk in or whether your service requires a scheduled assessment. See Metro Career Center and keep a short record of follow-up. Visitors’ accounts can point to both friction and good experiences, but determining whether a duty was breached requires comparing the promised service, the applicable programme, the case file and the formal response.
