Maskay guide

Where can you shop at New Haven farmers markets for Connecticut-grown food?

Three CitySeed markets place local food in different parts of New Haven: Wooster Square’s school-site Saturday market, Edgewood Park’s Sunday gathering, and Dixwell Q-House’s now-ended 2026 season.

Three market stops, three sides of New Haven

New Haven’s farmers markets are not a single downtown hall. CitySeed places them in neighborhood settings, linking Connecticut growers and food makers with people who shop close to home. Wooster Square’s Saturday market uses a school site; Edgewood’s Sunday market sits beside a large city park; Dixwell Q-House’s seasonal market serves a community-center plaza. They are better understood as separate neighborhood visits than as one walkable route.

CitySeed’s Wooster Square Farmers Market meets at Conte West Hills Middle School, 511 Chapel Street, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through November 21, 2026. Its public listing calls it CitySeed’s largest market and names local produce, dairy, eggs, meat and honey. Vendors accept cash, debit, credit and SNAP/EBT; CitySeed says SNAP is doubled for fresh produce. The school address matters: the market is not held at the Wooster Square green, so a map search for only the neighborhood name can send a visitor to the wrong place.

On Sunday mornings, Edgewood Park Farmers Market takes place at the corner of Whalley and West Rock avenues, between the Edgewood and Westville neighborhoods. The 2026 calendar lists May 3 through November 22, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. The organizer describes fresh fruit and vegetables, prepared food and a park setting; its visitor listing also states that vendors accept common card and cash payments and double SNAP for fresh produce. Huneebee Project, a local youth-workforce nonprofit, schedules its own booth here and describes the park’s family amenities. Its page is about that nonprofit’s attendance, not a guarantee that every vendor is present each week.

Dixwell Q-House Farmers Market uses Daniel Stewart Plaza at 197 Dixwell Avenue, beside a neighborhood community center. The Connecticut Department of Agriculture’s 2026 market listing records Saturdays, June 27–October 24, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.; that season has ended. CitySeed’s market information describes Connecticut-grown produce, baked goods and prepared food, and its network accepts and matches SNAP and state farmers-market nutrition benefits. A regional tourism calendar lists the same Q-House dates but labels the weekday inconsistently, so this guide follows the state schedule and recommends checking CitySeed before the next season.

For getting around, these locations sit in different parts of New Haven: downtown-adjacent Chapel Street, the western park edge, and Dixwell Avenue to the north. CTtransit publishes a New Haven route map, but the appropriate bus depends on a rider’s starting point and the market’s current service day. Use the address or intersection in the profile’s route link and confirm the live schedule; the markets are not all close enough to treat as a single stroll. Parking details were not included in the organizers’ current visitor pages, so this guide does not promise a dedicated lot.

The food-access details are unusually useful for planning a budget. At the two fall markets still on the 2026 calendar, CitySeed’s published information says SNAP/EBT is accepted and matched for fresh produce; Wooster Square also lists debit, credit and cash. Vendor prices vary, and there is no standard basket price. Check the weekly organizer notice if you need a particular product or payment method. With two markets still scheduled in November and Q-House finished for the year, the most practical choice now is Wooster on Saturday or Edgewood on Sunday; for future dates, verify each season rather than assuming the same schedule will return unchanged.

Bottom line

For a November 2026 visit, choose Wooster Square on Saturday or Edgewood Park on Sunday, and check the current CitySeed notice before travelling.
