Which counties does Mexico’s New York Consulate serve, and which services require appointments?

The Manhattan office covers New York State and publishes separate hours for documentation and protection. This guide distinguishes its district from New Jersey offices and explains which services require appointments.

Mexico’s Consulate General in New York serves all 62 counties in the state, according to its official list. That includes the city’s five boroughs and remote communities in the north and west. New Jersey is assigned to other offices: New Brunswick serves 13 central and northern counties, while Philadelphia covers eight southern counties. Geographic proximity does not replace this jurisdictional division.

The Manhattan office is at 27 East 39th Street. For documentation for Mexican nationals—passports, consular cards, pre-registration for military service and OP-7—the website lists appointment hours in two weekday blocks, 8 a.m.–1 p.m. and 3–7 p.m. The Protection Department accepts visitors without an appointment from 8 a.m.–4 p.m.; some services, such as OP-7, have their own rule. Do not plan every procedure around a single general schedule.

MiConsulado handles passport, consular-card and voter-ID appointments. The consulate site separately lists Civil Registry, notarial, protection and community services. Each procedure has its own requirements and supporting records; an appointment confirms a service time but does not guarantee that an incomplete file can be processed. To avoid a second trip, check the current list of original documents, copies, payments and exceptions on the official portal.

Mobile consulates bring selected procedures to other locations, and the New York office posts their calendars separately. The notice we reviewed was updated in October 2026; each date still specifies its location and services. A mobile unit should not be assumed to provide every function of the Manhattan office or to keep the same schedule the following month.

Google Maps reviews show differing experiences: some visitors thank staff for courteous treatment and completing a procedure, while others mention waiting or appointment timing. These are individual accounts, not a prediction for every visit. The New York Consulate General profile summarises jurisdiction, department hours and service channels.
