There is more to Phuket than a sun lounger
Staying in Phuket Town shifts the center of a trip. Instead of organizing each day around the beach, it invites walks past old houses, stops for food and another outing after sunset. For visitors arriving on the island with culinary curiosity, a city base can matter as much as choosing the right restaurant.
We are not looking for the cheapest bed or an expensive resort you barely use. These four-star options invest the budget differently: Midtown Ratsada emphasizes the old-town setting, Ratri its pool and evening atmosphere, and Courtyard a wider range of services. Hotel class was checked in Google Maps listings and should not be confused with guest ratings.
Midtown Ratsada: making the old town part of your stay
Pillars from a former escalator remain inside Midtown Cafe, a reminder that this site had another life before welcoming hotel guests. Its history includes a workshop linked to tin mining and the complex that housed Phuket Shopping Centre in 1985. The hotel opened in December 2022: staying on Ratsada Road brings that commercial history into the trip alongside walks through the old town.
The bedroom deserves as much attention as the address. Standards have 23 m²; Deluxe rooms have 28 m², with a choice of bay window or pool-facing balcony. An Executive Triple provides 38 m² for three travelers, while the 45 m² Junior Suite separates living and sleeping areas. Bathrooms have showers rather than bathtubs. A 14-metre pool and compact gym make room for breaks between walks without changing the urban character of the stay.
On September 17, 2026, Google Maps showed a HotelsCombined reference of USD 38 including taxes and fees for two guests on September 20–21. Breakfast and cancellation were not confirmed, and the offer did not identify a room. That price should not be assigned to balcony, Triple or suite categories.

Ratri: a pool and an evening with some atmosphere
At Ratri, the pool also provides a setting for the evening. Scheduled poolside performances and the bar give you a reason to return after exploring Phuket Town and stay for a drink. On Patiphat Road in Talat Nuea, that atmosphere is part of the hotel's appeal: it makes sense when you want your accommodation to contribute to your downtime rather than simply provide a place to sleep.
When choosing a room, distinguish extra space from easier access to the water. Classic King and Twin rooms and the Deluxe Pool Access all have 23 m²; the latter adds direct pool access, not more floor area. The Premier King reaches 36 m². The gym has treadmills and free weights, and a shuttle to the town center runs at scheduled times. These are different benefits to weigh against the time you want at the hotel and your plans around town.
The official-site reference shown in Google Maps on September 17, 2026, was USD 40 including taxes and fees for two guests that night, checking out September 18. Breakfast, cancellation and room category were not confirmed. It therefore does not represent a specific rate for either a Classic or a Deluxe Pool Access room.

Courtyard Phuket Town: choosing facilities you will actually use
At Courtyard Phuket Town, returning to the hotel need not bring the day's food discoveries to an end. Krua Talad Yai combines Southern Thai and international dishes, while Yue offers Cantonese cooking and dim sum. For a shorter break, Talung Lounge serves coffee and cocktails overlooking the clock tower. That variety is useful when companions have different appetites or prefer dinner at the hotel after exploring the old town.
Near Phang Nga Road, the hotel's design draws on Thai arts and crafts. Rooms have a desk, ergonomic chair and mini-fridge, practical details if you need to work between outings. The outdoor pool with Ko Lae Pool Bar, gym and kids' club expand the options beyond the bedroom. Family rooms and several suite categories are also available: the point is to choose spaces you will use during a city stay, rather than expect a beach resort.
As a reference, Google Maps displayed a Klook offer of USD 99 for two guests on September 19–20, 2026, including taxes and fees, when checked on September 17. Cancellation was available until September 18; breakfast was not confirmed. The offer did not identify a room category.

Choose city or beach before comparing bedrooms
Phuket Town and the island's beach destinations are not interchangeable. If the plan is to swim in the sea every morning, add transport and time to the cost of staying here. If restaurants, historic streets and city life matter most, town becomes the main experience rather than a day trip.
