Royal Park Sanjo: the freedom to head out twice
Sanjo makes meals out and walks part of the day without always routing the return journey toward the main railway station. The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Sanjo is around three minutes on foot from both Sanjo and Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae stations, letting you combine central walks with trips elsewhere. Back at the hotel, Monsieur ITOH offers a cellar-inspired dining space on the lower level, while THE BAR provides a way to continue the evening indoors.

Daiwa Roynet Ekimae: a useful base when rail connections lead
If Kyoto is one stage of a rail trip, Daiwa Roynet Kyoto Ekimae PREMIER makes arrival and onward travel simpler. It is around four minutes from JR Kyoto Station's Central Exit and connects with the PORTA underground passage. Inside, Nishijin textiles and references to kimono and traditional townhouses bring elements of Kyoto into a hotel that also focuses on everyday convenience.
The Standard Double offers 18.2 m² and a 154 cm-wide bed; the Superior Double increases the floor area to 20.1 m². These are compact rooms with a desk, bedside power sockets and an air purifier with humidifier. Self-service laundry helps on a multi-city trip. Breakfast at Nha Viet Nam combines Japanese, Western and Vietnamese choices, including pho, an option for travelers who enjoy varying the first meal of the day.

Cross Hotel: deciding whether extra space improves the trip
Unpacking and getting ready to go out are easier when the room layout helps. At Cross Hotel Kyoto, Standard rooms separate the bathroom, toilet and washbasin. The Twin has 25 m², the Queen 27 m² and the King 28 m², with a 180 cm-wide bed in the latter. A bathtub with a separate washing area and bath salts add another reason to return after walking: time spent relaxing can be part of the stay too.
The hotel stands in Daikokucho around Kawaramachi and Sanjo, with contemporary interiors and a spacious lobby lounge. Breakfast at KIHARU Brasserie introduces obanzai, Kyoto-style small home-cooked dishes that change by the day, alongside grilled preparations and Japanese omelette. The ceiling over the bar takes inspiration from Japanese umbrella frames. These details accompany an urban base for alternating sightseeing, meals and breaks at the hotel.

For a short stop between cities, Daiwa Roynet prioritizes rail connections. Royal Park and Cross let more of the stay revolve around Sanjo: walks, a hotel break and another outing for dinner in the center. Compare specific rooms and offer inclusions between the latter two; bathroom layout or floor benefits may matter more than a small difference in area.
