Staying in the 11th: design, lively streets and quiet courtyards
The 11th between Bastille, Oberkampf and République
Paris's 11th arrondissement has more than one personality. Rue de Charonne recalls the workshops of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine; around Oberkampf, bars and restaurants take over; near République, several metro lines open up the city. Staying here lets you step away from the most monument-focused route and return each night to streets with a life of their own.
L'Antoine, Le Mareuil and Les Deux Girafes occupy different points in the same district. One turns craft history into design, another offers a wellness pause on rue de Malte, and the third shelters a planted courtyard on Passage Beslay. Google Maps identifies all three as four-star hotels, and their own websites confirm their 11th-arrondissement addresses; no Marais or neighboring-district property is included.
For a value comparison, we used one shared night, October 12–13, 2026, for two people. On September 23, Google Maps displayed each hotel's official total in US dollars including taxes and fees. The sample shows an order of magnitude, not a typical price or a promise for future dates: room category, breakfast and cancellation were not comparable across the cards.
L'Antoine: a Faubourg design stay close to Bastille
On rue de Charonne, L'Antoine carries the character of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine into its guest rooms. Christian Lacroix devoted each floor to a different face of the neighborhood: reclaimed materials, richly colored fabrics, cabinetmaking echoes and references to rue de Lappe's nightlife. It suits travelers who want their hotel to say something about where they are staying.
Classic rooms cannot have twin beds; two travelers who want separate beds should look to a Superior, subject to availability. A sauna and exercise room add to the stay. For two guests on October 12–13, the official card on Google Maps showed USD 286 in total including taxes and fees, against USD 363 on Booking.com; it did not specify breakfast or room class.

Le Mareuil: a smaller retreat near République
Rue de Malte keeps the energy of République and Oberkampf a few steps away without placing the bed amid the bustle. Le Mareuil uses that contrast well: 54 rooms with floral motifs, a 14–15-square-meter Classic for a light stay and a 17–18-square-meter Superior when you want more space to unpack.
A sauna and hammam give you another reason to return after a day of walking; the website lists breakfast buffet separately at EUR 18 per person. For October 12–13, the official site displayed USD 346 on Google Maps for two guests, including taxes and fees according to the card, against USD 359 on Hotels.com. It did not specify the room or whether breakfast was included.

Les Deux Girafes: a courtyard to return to after Oberkampf
On Passage Beslay, Les Deux Girafes shelters a planted courtyard behind the energy of the 11th's streets. A 15-square-meter Club room may suit a light city break; a 20-square-meter Superior or 24-square-meter Deluxe gives you more space to settle in. Not every room has the same outlook, so the patio visible from the bar does not guarantee an identical view from bed.
The hotel adds a bar, afternoon tea and a gym with WaterRower and Sprintbok equipment. Its official rate appeared at USD 349 on Google Maps for two guests on October 12–13, including taxes and fees according to the card; Priceline showed USD 320. With neither a comparable room category nor breakfast identified on those cards, check the exact terms before weighing the difference.

Three ways to stay in one district
If Bastille and the Faubourg Saint-Antoine passages shape your walks, L'Antoine puts you on rue de Charonne. Le Mareuil suits travelers using République's metro connections who appreciate returning to a sauna or hammam. Les Deux Girafes shifts the focus to Saint-Ambroise: from Passage Beslay, its courtyard and bar give the return to the hotel its own appeal.
The rooms differ too. At L'Antoine, a Classic cannot be arranged as twins; at Le Mareuil, a Classic is 14–15 square meters and a Superior gains space; at Les Deux Girafes, the jump runs from a 15-square-meter Club to a 20-square-meter Superior. Compare the actual bed and floor area you will receive, not just a shared four-star classification.
Dated rates, not a cheap-hotel label
On Google Maps' official-site cards for October 12–13, two guests and one night, L'Antoine appeared at USD 286, Le Mareuil at USD 346 and Les Deux Girafes at USD 349. The totals included taxes and fees according to cards checked on September 23. Agency options had different prices, but without proof that they represented the same rooms and terms, these three official totals are the common reference for this comparison.
Breakfast being available does not mean it is included: Le Mareuil lists it at EUR 18 per person on its website, while none of the rate cards clearly established its inclusion. Room category and cancellation rules were equally unclear. The best value is the stay whose location, rest and terms suit your dates, not simply the lowest search-result number.
