Two hotels for exploring Neubau from within
A spacious Lindengasse base and a museum-side address
Neubau is Vienna's seventh district and changes character as Mariahilfer Straße gives way to galleries, cafés and Spittelberg's Biedermeier façades. Staying here makes it possible to walk to MuseumsQuartier without sleeping in the old town. The side of the shopping avenue matters too: these two hotels have addresses and access in 1070, within Neubau rather than neighbouring Mariahilf.
NH Wien City and Hotel Gilbert share a hotel category but suit different trips. The former puts spacious rooms, some with a kitchenette, and Neubaugasse U3 close at hand. The latter places design, a planted façade, &flora restaurant and wellness spaces near the museums. In each case the actual room matters: not all NH rooms have a kitchenette, and not all Gilbert rooms are terrace lofts.

NH Wien City: more room beside Neubaugasse
Entering through Lindengasse puts NH Wien City firmly inside Neubau even though its postal address faces Mariahilfer Straße. The U3 is close by, while Kirchengasse and the seventh district's side streets lead towards independent shops and neighbourhood tables. Many rooms have a separate sitting area and some have a kitchenette; that last feature depends on category rather than the hotel name.
For two adults on October 12–13, Maps showed an official-site total of USD 142 including taxes and fees on September 23. Breakfast, cancellation and the exact room were not stated. The useful comparison is therefore more than the number: anyone valuing a kitchenette or separate lounge must check that the chosen offer includes it. The hotel also has a sauna and gym, while standard cleaning is not daily unless requested in advance.

Gilbert makes Breite Gasse a base for MuseumsQuartier, Volkstheater and Spittelberg's streets. The planted façade and &flora restaurant give it character, while the shared gym and sauna add facilities that do not depend on paying for a loft. Rooms, however, range from fairly compact doubles to large suites: one terrace photograph should not stand in for the whole inventory.
On September 23, the official-site card on Maps listed a USD 223 total for two adults on October 12–13, including taxes and fees and free cancellation until the 10th. It did not identify breakfast or room category. This suits travellers willing to spend more for design and a museum-side setting; comparison with a cheaper neighbourhood room is only fair when each hotel's room and terms are known.

From the U3 to Breite Gasse without leaving the district
At NH, the Lindengasse passage separates the entrance from Mariahilfer Straße's bustle. Neubaugasse then acts as both a transport stop and a spine of small shops, while the inner streets lead towards Spittelberg. Gilbert stands on Breite Gasse, steps from MuseumsQuartier, where museums shape a day more than the shopping avenue does.
The service differences are tangible. NH has rooms that often include a sitting area and serves a buffet breakfast, although that breakfast was not confirmed as included in the observed rate. Gilbert has its own restaurant, gym and sauna and a wide spread of room categories. Vienna's tourist board lists environmental labels for Gilbert as a property; they do not turn the simplest room into the loft shown in a photograph.
Comparing the cost of one night
NH's USD 142 and Gilbert's USD 223 came from identified official-site cards on Maps for the same night and two people, with taxes and fees. They were not proven to be equivalent room categories. Before choosing, it matters whether NH's particular offer has a lounge or kitchenette and how large Gilbert's room is; breakfast and cancellation can also change the value behind an apparently clear headline figure.
