Choose a part of Madrid, not just a room

Saona makes dinner simple, while breakfast ranges from fruit and bread to hot dishes. It is a practical choice when you want to explore the city and return to a hotel with useful services close at hand.

Gran Versalles: traditional comfort around Alonso Martínez
Covarrubias is an appealing starting point if you want to explore Chamberí while keeping Chueca within your plans. Gran Versalles retains a traditional hotel atmosphere, with natural light entering the lobby from its courtyard and a bar for a drink between outings. You do not need the highest room category to benefit from the location: the choice is mainly about space and sleeping arrangements.
A Basic room suits a trip focused on going out, while a Twin Luxe is more appropriate when each traveler wants a separate bed. For two guests on September 20–21, the official offer was USD 238 including taxes and fees, with free cancellation until arrival day. Expedia displayed USD 264 with cancellation until the previous day. Neither figure identified breakfast or the specific room category, so these are observed offers rather than fixed prices for the rooms described.

Conde Duque: traditional character beside a garden square
On the Arapiles side of the district, Plaza del Conde del Valle de Súchil brings a garden setting to the stay. Conde Duque retains its traditional identity, refreshed through a furniture and lighting refurbishment in 2018. It may appeal if you prefer that style to a minimalist interior and want returning to the hotel to be part of the downtime, rather than simply a stop to sleep.
For two guests staying September 20–21, the official offer appeared at USD 203 in total but required membership; Hotels.com displayed USD 215 including taxes and fees. These are not necessarily equivalent conditions. In particular, compare an interior room with one offering views: the square is part of the setting's appeal, but it cannot be seen from every room.

Match the location and room to your trip
Choose Zurbano if the Castellana area appeals and you prefer a contemporary hotel with its own restaurant. Gran Versalles makes sense for combining Chamberí with Chueca and Alonso Martínez. Conde Duque offers a different atmosphere beside a square, with traditionally styled interiors. None needs to be the best for everyone: good value is the choice that fits your itinerary.
Even within one hotel, a terrace room, an exterior room and an interior room can deliver different stays. If you will be out most of the day, a simpler category may leave more room in the budget for dining. If you also plan to relax in the afternoon, space, outlook and sleeping arrangements may justify the difference.

They are shown in US dollars because that was the displayed currency, without conversion to euros. Taxes and fees were included; the search did not confirm included breakfast or equivalent room categories across hotels.
Dates matter: the same search for September 23–24 showed official totals of USD 330, USD 372 and USD 319 respectively, with the same membership restriction at Conde Duque. These are two dated examples, not typical prices or guaranteed availability. Compare your actual dates and the room total, rather than a per-person figure or a discount whose conditions you do not meet.
