Where can you stay in Arroios, Lisbon, at a four-star hotel worth its price?

Almirante Reis, Intendente or Estefânia: choose your starting point

The appeal of staying in Arroios begins when you step outside. Different culinary traditions coexist in this part of Lisbon, and choosing where to eat can be as interesting as deciding which monument to visit. A day can revolve around a walk, a meal and the return to a comfortable room, without always beginning on the same sightseeing circuit.

Arroios is a freguesia, an administrative parish joining the former parishes of Anjos, Pena and São Jorge de Arroios. Within it, choosing one street over another changes the day's starting point. Dos Reis is near Intendente metro, Czar is further along Almirante Reis, and NEYA provides another base on Rua Dona Estefânia. They offer three ways into the same part of the city.

All three have a four-star hotel classification, but their strengths differ. Czar emphasizes practicality; Dos Reis stands out for design and somewhat larger entry-level rooms; NEYA adds wellness facilities. None should be called cheap for every date. Comparing two consecutive nights shows where value may lie and when a rate becomes less appealing.

Czar Lisbon: a straightforward base that leaves room for the city

If your plan is to have breakfast, head out and return after exploring, Czar pairs compact rooms with useful facilities such as a gym, 24-hour reception and on-site dining. Its Almirante Reis address is within Arroios, and the terrace bar provides somewhere to pause without leaving the area. Triple rooms with three separate beds also meet a different need from a couple looking for a double.

Size matters: a 15-square-meter Double or Twin does not offer the space of the larger alternatives in this guide. The trade-off can work when the rate is right. For two guests, Hotels.com showed a total of USD 133 for October 11–12 and USD 165 for October 12–13; Expedia displayed USD 171 for the second night. Taxes and fees were included, but breakfast and the specific room category were not detailed.

Dos Reis: distinctive design near Intendente

A glowing crown welcomes guests to Dos Reis, but the interest goes beyond a lobby photograph. Nini Andrade Silva's design continues in rooms combining glass, ceramics and champagne tones. Intendente station makes it easier to get around Lisbon; back at the hotel, Anarchia offers a change of pace with pasta, pizza or risotto. This is the selection's candidate for travelers seeking characterful interiors without moving straight to a large suite.

The 20-square-meter doubles provide a roomier starting point than Czar's basic categories. Value, however, changes sharply with the night: Agoda showed USD 277 for October 11–12 and USD 146 for October 12–13, for two guests including taxes and fees. For the latter date, Booking.com displayed USD 166 and the members-only official option USD 136. The design deserves attention; paying almost twice as much for it on a different date is a separate decision.

NEYA Lisboa: for a proper break between outings

Rua Dona Estefânia provides another Arroios address, away from the immediate Almirante Reis axis. NEYA brings together soundproofed rooms, bicycles, a gym and a Day Spa with a Jacuzzi and massages. The shiatsu cushion in each room is a specific expression of its emphasis on rest, while Viva Lisboa adds Portuguese weekday lunches built around seasonal produce. It suits travelers who want their hotel to do more than store a suitcase.

Those facilities do not automatically make it the cheapest choice. For October 12–13, Booking.com's twin-bed option showed a total of USD 181 for two guests, compared with USD 206 on Expedia. The USD 149 official offer was advertised for members. Booking.com showed USD 245 for the preceding night, so choose according to the facilities you will use and your actual dates, without assuming breakfast, spa or parking is included.

Match the hotel to the way you travel

Czar makes sense if you will spend much of the day out and a compact room is enough. Dos Reis gives more weight to design and metro access, particularly when the rate difference is small. NEYA becomes more appealing if you want to alternate outings with rest and will use its facilities; paying for that possibility adds little if you will hardly be at the hotel.

The highest category need not be the automatic choice. Before selecting a Superior room, compare floor space, beds and specific benefits. Suite equipment or a parking space included with one category should not be assumed to come with every room at the property.

Two dates that show why comparison matters

Rates were read on Google Maps on September 23, 2026, for two guests and one night. For October 12–13, the selected totals were USD 165 at Czar through Hotels.com, USD 146 at Dos Reis through Agoda and USD 181 at NEYA through Booking.com. Taxes and fees were included according to the platform. The official offers of USD 136 at Dos Reis and USD 149 at NEYA were marked as member rates and are separate from those comparisons.

For October 11–12, the same providers showed USD 133, USD 277 and USD 245 respectively. Czar cost less on the first night; Dos Reis and NEYA on the following one. These are dated examples, not typical prices or confirmed reservations. The displayed currency was US dollars, without conversion to euros. Room categories are not necessarily equivalent and breakfast and cancellation were not confirmed, so the final comparison should use the total and terms for your own stay.
