Maskay guide

Which states does Ecuador’s Washington consular section serve, and how do you book an appointment?

The Embassy’s Washington consular section serves the District of Columbia and four states. We review its jurisdiction, service list and discrepancies between official contact details and Maps.

Ecuador’s Washington post is part of the Embassy, but its consular services have a defined territory: Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. This list is the starting point for checking whether the office serves your residence. Cancillería also distinguishes the Embassy from Ecuador’s permanent missions to the OAS and UN, which are not general consular-service counters.

The Washington portal lists a broad catalogue: passports and ID cards, powers of attorney and sworn declarations, authorisations for minors, birth, marriage and death registration, certificates, apostilles, visas, no-objection letters and judicial communications, among others. The list is an overview; each service page has its own requirements and steps. The mission says procedures are booked and confirmed electronically, so start on the official portal, select the service and follow its specific instructions.

The national directory lists 2535 15th Street NW, Washington, DC 20009, phone +1 202 234 7200 and general weekday hours of 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m. The exact Maps listing titled “Consulado del Ecuador en Washington D.C.” shows the same address but a different phone and a later opening time. We cannot treat these signals as equivalent: check the electronic appointment and use Cancillería’s institutional contact.

Maps has two separate listings at approximately the same address: “Embassy of Ecuador” and “Consulado del Ecuador en Washington D.C.” Their review metrics are not interchangeable. This guide uses the listing named for the consular office because it covers procedures and jurisdiction; we do not add reviews or combine details from both. The embassy is the diplomatic mission, and its consular section handles the published services.

Comments on the consular listing include positive accounts of assistance and completed procedures alongside critical observations about hours, responses or particular processes. They are individual reports, not an evaluation of every service. The available passport page gives specific instructions but was published in 2022; check fees, payment methods and documents again before booking.

The building is on the 15th Street NW corridor, north of central Washington. If travelling from Virginia, Maryland, Delaware or West Virginia, confirm the post, appointment time and access before planning the journey; sharing a street address does not erase the phone discrepancy. The Ecuador consular section in Washington profile brings together location, services and confirmed contact details.

Checked on 18 October 2026 against Cancillería, the mission portal and exact Maps listing. The official directory and Maps differ on phone and listed opening time; follow the appointment instructions.

Bottom line

Washington lists passports, powers of attorney, civil registration, apostilles, visas and other services. Its jurisdiction covers five areas. Because Maps and the directory differ on phone and opening time, confirm through your electronic appointment and use Cancillería’s published contact.
