Denver Scholarship Foundation: eligibility, award amount, and 2027–28 application

DSF aid for Denver Public Schools graduates is closed for 2026–27 and reopens February 1, 2027.

The Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) is a local organization helping Denver Public Schools students move from high school into college and complete their studies. Its scholarship is available at 30 Colorado partner colleges, from technical institutions to four-year universities, with advising support. The 2026–27 application has closed; the student portal says the 2027–28 application opens February 1, 2027. The DSF profile summarizes current status, published award amounts, and eligibility.

Applicants must have attended a Denver Public Schools high school throughout high school or since moving to Colorado, graduate, and enroll full time at a partner college. Minimum GPA depends on the destination: 2.75 for a four-year university, 2.5 for a community college, and 2.0 for a technical college. DSF says it may consider exceptions in some cases. Students must also demonstrate financial need and meet Colorado residency requirements set by the institution.

The current eligibility page uses a maximum SAI of 16,640 based on the 2025–26 cycle; DSF says it uses the SAI calculated by the college, which may differ from the figure shown on FAFSA or CASFA. That threshold could change for the next year. In addition to DSF, submit FAFSA or CASFA as appropriate, complete the college’s financial-aid process by July 15, and apply for three other scholarships or two scholarships plus a student-support program. Applicants under 18 need an adult’s signature.

DSF’s page lists 2026–27 awards of $3,113 a year at four-year universities and $1,470 at community and technical colleges. These are figures for that cycle, split between academic terms; do not assume they will remain the same for 2027–28. Renewal may continue for up to five years if enrollment, GPA, financial need, and program policies are met. The scholarship is not described as tuition-free; ask the campus for a cost estimate and what DSF does not cover.

DSF’s published schedule says the 2027–28 application opens February 1, and the portal gives May 1 as the closing date. From February, students can create an account using their birth date and DPS ID. Gather high-school records, FAFSA/CASFA information, admission details, and a partner-college list; then monitor email and the portal for follow-up steps. Ask DSFinfo@denverscholarship.org or call 303-951-4140 about award amounts or a GPA exception before choosing a college.
