Choose the pace of the hotel as well as the city
Chiang Mai invites a mixture of temples, cafés and leisurely meals, but accommodation changes how those days fit together. Staying on Rachadamnoen starts each walk inside the old city. Choosing Wat Ket east of the Ping adds a neighborhood journey and a garden to return to in the afternoon.

The decision is less about accumulating facilities than identifying which ones will become part of your Chiang Mai days.
U Chiang Mai: at the heart of an old-city walk

There is more to the hotel than its address: the spa occupies a restored former governor's residence, giving time spent at the property an architectural setting of its own.
If you enjoy reading or relaxing outdoors, consider the Superior rooms: they have a private balcony with a daybed, a rain shower and a king bed or twin beds. Direct pool access and bathtubs belong to other categories rather than every room. Bistro-style EAT Restaurant makes it possible to stay for a meal instead of treating every return to the hotel as a quick stop before heading out again.

Aksara Heritage: a break beside the pool
Traveling as a group of three does not always work well with an extra bed squeezed into a double room. At Aksara Heritage, the Triple has 40 m² and three beds, along with a sofa, desk and refrigerator. That layout gives this Rachadamnoen hotel a specific advantage for travelers who want to share a room and use the old city as their starting point.
The hotel's 41 rooms are complemented by an outdoor saltwater pool, a pool bar and a gym. Lanna influences connect the décor with the destination, while Aksara Lanna Cuisine combines Eastern and Western dishes, a breakfast buffet and à la carte service. Days can alternate between walks and time beside the water, with the option to eat in when the group prefers an afternoon without further journeys.
The Traveloka reference from September 17, 2026, was USD 108 including taxes and fees for two guests on October 22–23; breakfast was not confirmed. This was neither a three-person rate nor an offer identified as a Triple room. It also applies to October rather than the September nights quoted for the other two hotels.

Rimping Village: across the Ping at a gentler pace
A terrace beneath a large Yang tree invites you to linger at Rimping Village. In Wat Ket, east of the Ping River, gardens and mature trees are part of the appeal of this 34-room hotel. Its architecture draws on the neighborhood's doors, rooflines and paths: staying here gives this side of the river a place in the trip alongside visits to the old city.
The saltwater pool and complimentary bicycles offer two different ways to spend time around the property and neighborhood. For families, the 48–52 m² suite accommodates up to four guests, with a double bed and two singles divided by a partition; it is an open space, not two separate bedrooms. A separate bathtub and shower complete that category. It suits a trip with time for the garden and Wat Ket, allowing for the journey to the old city on sightseeing days.

A central address or a garden retreat?
U Chiang Mai and Aksara Heritage favor days centered on the old city. Examine room size and bed layout, especially for three travelers. Rimping Village offers an alternative across the river, most convincing when the garden and time to relax matter as much as sightseeing.
