Who Are We?

The María Elena Moyano Center was born on September 20, 2000. Its founders, a group of professionals involved in poverty-fighting programs. The name "Center for promotion of equity" reflects the main line of our work: promoting equal opportunities and contributing to closing the gap between poverty and wealth. With the name María Elena Moyano, we pay tribute to the leader of the popular food centers of Villa El Salvador, who from her community led processes of reclamation for justice and peace. María Elena Moyano Delgado was a social fighter, Peruvian neighborhood leader, known popularly as Mother Courage.

Our Mission

We contribute to improving capacities in people and local actors for the optimal exercise of their rights, in the sustainable management of natural resources and healthy production, through effective learning strategies that promote good productive practices, citizen participation, equitable gender relations, and the construction of sustainable human development.

Our Vision

For the next quinquennial, the María Elena Moyano Center is an institution with national and international prestige, promoting strategies that help adapt to climate change and the development of competencies in very poor children and families of the three natural regions of Peru.
