About Comelit Group S.p.A.

Comelit Group: integrated security systems from Bergamo

Comelit Group S.p.A. designs and manufactures systems for protecting people, buildings, places and goods. The company presents itself as a single point of reference for installers and distributors, combining door entry and video door entry with burglar alarms, video surveillance, home and building automation, fire detection and access control. Its stated aim is to offer simplicity of installation, integration between its own products and continuity of technical assistance.

The company was founded in 1956 by four entrepreneurs in a small garage in Bergamo. From that starting point it has grown into a group that, according to the information published on its site, operates in 96 countries with more than 1,000 employees. The group describes itself as family-led and made up of 14 companies, with one central headquarters, nine branches across five continents, eight research and development centres and four representative offices in key markets. Elsewhere on the same site the figures are given as ten branches and six R&D centres, and the number of Italian regions covered is put at sixteen.

From the first valve intercom to SimpleBus

The company traces its history through a series of product milestones. In 1957 it launched the Polyphony Uberlaut, described as the first valve intercom with a voice quality without precedent at the time. A built-in transistor amplifier followed in 1962, presented as inexpensive, small and virtually indestructible, and in 1969 the Duetto Pile hands-free intercom for domestic use.

In 1974 came the Visi/7, the company's first video intercom monitor. Five years later, in 1979, Comelit presented what it describes as the world's first digital doorphone, capable of connecting up to 999 telephones using only three wires. In 1999 it introduced SimpleBus, patented as the first digital system for two-wire plus two door entry and video door entry systems in parallel.

  • 2021: Logifire control panels and detectors.
  • 2022: the "1406" module, presented as a single module that makes the system smart for everyone.

Solutions by building type

The catalogue is organised around the type of installation rather than around individual products. It covers apartments, villas, multifamily buildings and condominiums, shops, studios, offices, industries, schools, hotels, cinemas, and stations and garages. Across these settings the offer combines door entry systems, home and building automation, anti-intrusion, video surveillance, fire detection and access control.

Support for installers and end users

The site separates its content into two audiences, installers and end users, and provides dedicated areas for each. It also lists catalogues and brochures, case studies, the Comelit App and MyComelit, alongside a sales network and technical support. Access to the ComelitPro area is reserved for professionals.

Security, sustainability and data protection

Comelit frames sustainability as contributing to a safer tomorrow: reducing environmental impact, looking after the people who work with the company and its community, and making production processes more efficient with the support of sustainable technologies. On data protection, the company states that it considers itself responsible for safeguarding every piece of data processed, every video recorded and every face captured, and treats this as an ethical commitment. It also publishes a vulnerability policy and a whistleblowing channel among its corporate documents.

International structure

Although founded in Italy, the group states that its history extends well beyond its Bergamo headquarters and its offices in sixteen Italian regions, citing offices from Los Angeles to Paris and from Singapore to London. The company's registered capital is listed at €3,000,000.00.
