Rhett House Inn

Historic Beaufort inn centered on an early-19th-century Lowcountry house, with Southern breakfast, evening refreshments, bicycles and a quiet Craven Street location near downtown.

About Rhett House Inn

Rhett House Inn is centered on the Thomas Smith Rhett House, a historic property dating to around 1820 at 1009 Craven St. The inn occupies three buildings and sits on a quieter residential street within easy walking distance of Bay Street, downtown restaurants and Beaufort's waterfront.

Rooms vary considerably because they are spread among the Main House, guest cottage and New Castle House. Some include fireplaces, private porches, refrigerators or other additional amenities. The preserved architecture, antiques and verandas give the property a traditional Lowcountry character, but the historic layout also means stairs are required for some rooms and there is no elevator.

The stay includes a Southern breakfast and a series of hosted extras that help define the inn: iced tea and homemade cookies, evening hors d'oeuvres, desserts later in the evening, bicycles, beach gear and a state-park pass. Complimentary off-street parking is available, and selected rooms accept smaller pets under the inn's pet policy.

Rhett House Inn is a strong fit for travelers who want the rhythm of a traditional hosted inn rather than a standard hotel, and who appreciate a quiet street while remaining close enough to explore downtown Beaufort on foot.
