Sleep Shop

Sleep Shop, a British Columbia specialist in mattresses and sleep furniture

Sleep Shop is a Canadian retailer focused on products for sleeping, operating stores in Vancouver, Langley, North Vancouver and Richmond, all in British Columbia. Its catalogue is organised around five main families: mattresses, adjustable bases, pillows, bedding and sleep furniture. The company presents itself as having been active in the sector since the early 1970s, when founder Haji Manji arrived in Canada and, after several years as a furniture salesman, set up a store dedicated entirely to sleep products.

Mattresses by comfort level, type and brand

The mattress range is sorted by comfort level (soft, medium and firm), by construction type and by brand. Among the types listed are memory foam, all-foam, hybrid, latex, coil and bed-in-a-box models. The brand selection includes A-Z Foam, Aireloom, Bedgear, Kingsdown, Nature's Rest, Spring Air, Tempur-Pedic and King Koil. Some models are flagged as Canadian-made, such as the Nature's Rest Breeze Hybrid and the A-Z Foam Koala 6". The catalogue also shows specific price points, for example the Aireloom Luxetop M2 Plush or the BEDGEAR H4 Hybrid Performance.

Adjustable bases, pillows and bedding

Adjustable bases are grouped into basic, luxury, hospital and standard categories. The pillow selection is organised by sleeping position: side, back, stomach and combination. Within bedding, the store lists sheets, duvets and comforters, mattress protectors, comfort toppers, and wedges and bolsters, including several Orthex models described as Canadian-made. Foundations and box springs from Kingsdown, Nature's Rest and Spring Air also appear in the catalogue.

Sleep furniture beyond the bedroom

Under sleep furniture, Sleep Shop sells cabinet beds, sofa beds, storage beds, platform beds, upholstered beds, headboards, bedroom sets, lift chairs and box springs. The range is presented as a way to make more of a space by combining guest sleeping, storage and everyday use. Examples in the catalogue include the Monte Carlo wall bed, the Barn cabinet bed and the Robina storage bed, alongside a Monkland bedroom set with a storage bed and matching furnishings.

Purchase conditions and services described by the retailer

The company states that it has 47 years of experience and lists several commercial conditions: financing and budgeting options with no deposit and no interest, free mattress delivery in the Lower Mainland, a price match of 5%, a 60-day comfort trial and a used-mattress recycling service. It also offers a free online consultation and a sleep quiz on its website. The site was running Home Show Specials between 15 October and 2 November, with 20% off selected Nature's Rest and Spring Air mattresses, introductory pricing on new Bedgear hybrids and special pricing on selected beds.
